I wanted to write a small blurb every other week on Fridays regarding an app.
One that is fantastic, underrated, overrated, a current favorite, or one that needs to be called out.
Today’s app will be:
WEBTOON is an app (and website) where you can read comics written and created by anybody. Webcomics have become a new trend of reading online that many people have taken to. With the popularity of webcomics, some media formats are even taking to try and adapt them into cartoons and such.
One such way is the webcomic ‘Lore Olympus‘ created by Rachel Smythe that has talk about how The Jim Henson Company plans to make a Netflix adaptation.
Interested in what Lore Olympus is? We’ve got the plot for you!
Witness what the gods do…after dark. The friendships and the lies, the gossip and the wild parties, and of course, forbidden love. Because it turns out, the gods aren’t so different from us after all, especially when it comes to their problems. Stylish and immersive, this is one of mythology’s greatest stories — The Taking of Persephone — as it’s never been told before.
Want the scoop on Tower of God? Here’s the plot!
What do you desire? Money and wealth? Honor and pride? Authority and power? Revenge? Or something that transcends them all? Whatever you desire—it’s here.
There are even some webcomics that have worked together with already known fictional works (aka books) such as ‘Not Even Bones‘ by Rebecca Schaeffer and drawn by Alai Cinereo or ‘The Wrath And The Dawn‘ by Renee Ahdieh and drawn by SilvesterVitale.
Heard of the books, but don’t really know what they’re about? Check below for the plots!
Not Even Bones – Rebecca Schaeffer
Nita doesn’t hunt supernatural beings and sell their body parts on the black market – her mother does that. Nita only dissects the magical bodies for her mother. However, Nita’s about to get a real taste of the family business and there is no turning back. Now, Nita must decide whether she is willing to become a monster… (Based on the YA novel by Rebecca Schaeffer.)
The Wrath And The Dawn – Renee Ahdieh
Khalid, the Caliph, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. However, Shahrzad has a clever plan – not only to stay alive – but to end the murderous King’s reign of terror once and for all. (A reimagining of 1001 Nights based on the YA novel by Renee Ahdieh.)
Fairly Famous Comics
Maybe you’ve seen some work online by the artists that appear on WEBTOON.

Murrz – Murrz

Lars – The Awkward Yeti
The everyday misadventures of The Awkward Yeti
Cursed Princess Club – LambCat
Meet Gwendolyn – living proof that princesses don’t always have it all. See, although she lives in a castle and her father is the King, Gwendolyn isn’t like a movie princess, or even a fairly-tale princess. She’s got a big heart, but isn’t particularly attractive and doesn’t have a Disney-quality singing voice. But one night, she accidentally stumbles upon the twisted world of the Cursed Princess Club, and her life will never be the same. Hexed and cast out, the ladies of the club are just the people Gwendolyn needs to show her that just because she doesn’t “fit the mold” does not mean she’s any less of a princess.
True Beauty – Yaongyi
After binge-watching beauty videos online, a shy, comic book fan masters the art of make-up, then sees her social standing skyrocket as she becomes her school’s prettiest pretty girl literally overnight. But will her elite status be short lived? How long can she keep her “real self” a secret? And what about that cute boy she likes? Could you imagine if he found out the truth?
Library Ghost – Mikey Heller
Here is a ghost that works at the library; however, do NOT be afraid! He is just like you who does weird things and totally screws everything up. Library Ghost is taking a recess at the moment!
Illustrated Internet – Dami Lee
The internet is full of precious jokes that deserve to be cherished forever. These are my favorite tweets, Tumblr text posts, and other gems from the world wide web in comic form.
Muted – Miranda Mundt
On the full moon of her 21st year, the young witch, Camille Severin, is expected to perform the traditional ritual to summon forth a winged demon for her families success and prosperity. But when the ritual goes wrong, it reveals the terrifying truths about herself and the secrets that threaten to tear her family apart.
Let’s Play – Mongie
She’s young, single and about to achieve her dream of creating incredible videogames. But then life throws her a one-two punch: a popular streamer gives her first game a scathing review. Even worse she finds out that same troublesome critic is now her new neighbor! A funny, sexy and all-too-real story about gaming, memes and social anxiety. Come for the plot, stay for the doggo.
